Independent Retainer or Project No Service-Plan Required

Strategic IT Advisory without the sales pitch

20++ years inside the MSP world, on your side of the table. Roadmaps, vendor selection, and honest second opinions — billed by the hour, not the contract.

The Angle

"Most strategic IT advice comes from people trying to sell you the strategy. We came up running an MSP — so we know exactly which questions the vendor isn't answering."

When This Fits

A seat at the table — not another vendor

This isn't a managed services plan. We don't ship hardware, monitor your servers, or open tickets at 2 a.m. That's what our managed plans are for — and they're a different conversation.

Strategic advisory is what happens before all that. The decision you make once a year that you live with for five. The vendor you're about to sign. The MSP you're not sure is earning their retainer.

You're paying us for an opinion, not a product.

What we don't do

Hands-on implementation. We plan the work, vet the vendors, and review the results — but execution happens through your existing MSP, your internal team, or our managed plans (your call).

Your MSP isn't delivering

You suspect you're being oversold or underserved — you want a second opinion from someone who knows the playbook.

Choosing a major platform

CRM, ERP, accounting, practice management. Vendor sales calls feel slanted. You need someone in your corner.

M&A or due diligence

Buying or selling a business. Someone has to sanity-check the IT stack, contracts, and risks before the deal closes.

No internal IT leadership

You don't have a CIO and don't need one full-time, but somebody has to own the technology strategy.

Annual budget & planning

You're tired of guessing what next year's IT spend should be. A roadmap turns it into line items.

Compliance or insurance asks

A new regulation, audit, or cyber insurance questionnaire just landed. You need direction, not another quote.

Engagement

Two ways to work with us

A monthly retainer for ongoing leadership, or a flat-fee project when you've got a specific decision in front of you. Many clients start with one project and roll into a retainer afterward.

Most Common

Monthly Retainer

Ongoing leadership for businesses without a full-time CIO. Predictable monthly cadence, room to call between meetings.

Starting at $1,500 /month

Included

  • Monthly strategy meeting
  • IT roadmap & annual budget
  • Vendor & contract review
  • Risk & security posture check-ins
  • Email access between meetings
  • Quarterly executive readout

Higher tiers available for larger teams, board reporting, or weekly engagement. We size the retainer to the scope on the discovery call.

Project Engagements

One specific decision, one scoped engagement. Flat fee, fixed deliverable, no ongoing commitment.

$2,500–$15,000 flat, per project

Common engagements

MSP Health Check

Independent review of your current managed services provider. Where you're overpaying, where you're exposed, what to renegotiate.

Vendor Selection

CRM, ERP, phone system, line-of-business platform. We run the evaluation, vet the references, and sit at the table during demos.

Cyber Insurance Prep

Walk your insurance questionnaire with you. Identify the gaps before underwriting flags them.

M&A IT Due Diligence

IT inventory, contract obligations, security posture, and integration risk — packaged for the deal team.

Annual Technology Plan

A 12-month roadmap with budgets, vendor decisions, and milestones. Shareable with your board.

Second-Opinion Engagement

You got a quote, a recommendation, or a proposal. We tell you what we'd push back on before you sign.

How It Works

No mystery, no surprise invoices

Every engagement starts with a free discovery call. If it isn't the right fit, we'll tell you — and we'll usually know who is.

1

Discovery call

Free 30-minute call. Tell us what's on your plate. We tell you honestly whether advisory is the right shape — or if you'd be better served by a managed plan.

2

Scope & engagement letter

For retainers: meeting cadence, included hours, areas of focus. For projects: deliverables, timeline, flat fee. No surprises mid-stream.

3

Kickoff & baseline

We learn your environment, contracts, and pain points. The first session is calibration — what you actually need vs. what got you to call.

4

Recurring cadence

Retainer: standing monthly meetings with a written summary and action items. Projects: weekly check-ins until delivery.

5

Reassess every quarter

Three months in, we look at whether the engagement is still earning its keep. Scale up, scale down, or wrap it up — your call.

30 minutes, no commitment

Tell us what's on your plate. If we can help, we'll scope it. If we can't, we'll point you somewhere that can.
