What speed does a Greenville office need for VoIP and Microsoft 365?

We’ve placed and supported business internet in Greenville since 2006. Most offices we see run email, Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, hosted phones, and a few cloud apps. That stack rarely needs a six-hundred-dollar symmetric fiber circuit. It does need a clean path — especially on upload and latency.
The numbers that matter
- Download — pages, file downloads, and Teams inbound video. For a typical 10–30 person office, 100 Mbps shared is usually fine; 300+ is comfortable headroom.
- Upload — backups, camera feeds, cloud sync, and outbound video. Under ~20 Mbps starts to hurt when several people upload at once.
- Latency — round-trip delay. Over ~50 ms and remote desktop or M365 can feel sticky.
- Jitter — how much latency jumps around. Over ~30 ms and VoIP audio gets choppy even on a “fast” pipe.
